Module Programming

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2019 Fiat 500X. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

This procedure is required when one or more of the following situations are true:

This procedure assumes that the scan tool is properly configured to the dealership network with either a wired or wireless connection. For help on how to network the scan tool, use the "Help" tab at the top of the diagnostic application.

Programming Procedure:

  1. With the original PCM installed, run a "Vehicle Scan Report".
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  3. Remove the original PCM from the vehicle.
  4. Install the new PCM to the vehicle.
  5. Connect the negative battery cable.
  6. Restart the wiTECH diagnostic scan tool.
  7. Flash the new PCM.
    NOTE:

    Generic Variant 7EE3  .

    1. wiTECH finds the flash.
    2. Starting flash.
    3. Flash in progress.
    4. Cycle key note.
    5. ECU up to date.
    6. 68350434AC to current part number 68442556AE (example)
  8. Check the PCM data to verify that the Vehicle Information Number (VIN) is learned.
    NOTE:

Autosar will learn the VIN over the Controller Area Network (CAN) bus automatically.

  9. Perform the "Learn ETC" procedure.
  10. Navigate to the BCM Misc Functions menu. Perform the "Transfer Secret Key to ESL/ECM" procedure. While performing the procedure, a PIN is required. Requests to activate hazards, turn ignition off and turn ignition on will be prompted. A message should be received "Procedure terminated correctly" when complete.
  11. Perform "GSE Injector Adaptation" routine.
    NOTE:

Perform the "GSE Injector Adaptation" routine at a cold start. There is a temperature restriction preventing this procedure from starting above 122 F (50 C).

  12. PROXI align the PCM.
    NOTE:

If you select to mail a report and stop to update the e-mail information, the PCM flag for DTCs P1500 ECU CONFIGURATION MISMATCH and P0610 ECU VEHICLE OPTIONS MISMATCH may not clear. If so the BCM B10AA-4A CHECK CONFIGURATION FAILED - INCORRECT COMPONENTS INSTALLED returns. Perform the PROXI alignment again.

    NOTE:

The Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) display units may be switched from Imperial (US) to Metric (default) during above procedures.

  13. Check the PCM/ECM Odometer. Write the PCM miles then check the PCM data to verify the proper odometer write value.
  14. Road test the vehicle to learn the "Adaptive Numerator". Clear any DTCs prior to road testing.
    NOTE:

Perform the "Adaptive Numerator" on deceleration from 120 KPH - 80 KPH (75 MPH - 50 MPH) in the highest gear possible. Learning the "Adaptive Numerator" enables the Engine Stop/Start (ESS) function.

  15. Verify no DTCs have been set.
