Cable, Shift: Installation

NOTE:

Make sure the rubber grommet in the floor pan is fully seated to prevent water leaking into the passenger compartment.

Install the gear shift cable in the vehicle.
Install the gear shift cable (2) to the retaining clip (1).

Push the gear shift cable grommet (1) through the floor from beneath the vehicle.
Remove the support and lower the vehicle.
Seat the rubber grommet into the floor pan. Ensure that the grommet is fully engaged to the floor pan.
Install the gear shifter. Refer to SHIFTER, TRANSMISSION, INSTALLATION .

Install the gear shift cable (1) to the bracket (2). Make sure the lock tab (3) on the gear shift cable is fully seated.
Connect the gear shift cable (1) to the transmission manual control lever.
Install the battery tray. Refer to TRAY, BATTERY, INSTALLATION .
Adjust the gear shift cable. Refer to CABLE, SHIFT, ADJUSTMENTS .
