Access Panel

REMOVAL 

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the front door sill plate. Refer to PLATE, SCUFF, DOOR, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  3. Remove the steering column opening cover. Refer to SHROUD, STEERING COLUMN, LOWER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION and SHROUD, STEERING COLUMN, UPPER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  4. Remove the Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) duct. Refer to DUCT, INSTRUMENT PANEL, CENTER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

  5. Reposition that drivers compartment mat (1a).
  6. Remove the accelerator pedal. Refer to PEDAL(S), BRAKE AND/OR ACCELERATOR, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

  7. Remove retaining clips and remove the foam pad (1) to gain access to lower Body Control Module (BCM) bracket bolt.

  8. Remove the hood opening lever cable (1a) and remove the nuts (1b).
  9. Remove the BCM access cover.

INSTALLATION 

  1. Position the BCM access cover in its housing and tighten the nuts.
  2. Connect the hood lever cable to its housing.
  3. Install driver side floor foam pad and insert retaining clips.
  4. Install accelerator petal. Refer to PEDAL(S), BRAKE AND/OR ACCELERATOR, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  5. Reposition drivers compartment carpet.
  6. Install the HVAC duct. Refer to DUCT, INSTRUMENT PANEL, CENTER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  7. Install the steering column opening cover. Refer to SHROUD, STEERING COLUMN, LOWER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION and SHROUD, STEERING COLUMN, UPPER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  8. Install the transmission shift lever handle. For automatic. Refer to SHIFTER, TRANSMISSION, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION . For manual. Refer to KNOB, GEARSHIFT, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  9. Install the front door sill plate. Refer to PLATE, SCUFF, DOOR, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  10. Connect the negative battery cable.
