Inertia Switch

CAUTION: DO NOT  reset inertia switch until entire fuel system has been inspected for leaks.

Inertia switch is located in trunk on left hinge support of Capri, Cougar, Mustang and Thunderbird sedan models. Capri and Mustang 3-door models have switch located in rear storage area near left taillight. LTD and Marquis sedan models have switch in trunk on right side. LTD and Marquis station wagon models have switch in left rear storage compartment.

To reset inertia switch after checking for leaks, depress button on top of switch. When inertia switch button is in reset position, it can be depressed additional 1/16" (1.5 mm) against internal spring. This is normal and does not indicate any failure of inertia switch.
