The vehicle emission control information decal Step 4 says to "adjust ignition timing to 10~ BTDC or the symbol "triangle", Figure 6". Field technicians are not sure as to which of the three symbol "triangles" is 10~ BTDC on the automatic transaxle flex plate. This is because the wrong symbol is used on the decal. The correct symbol should be a "V" not a symbol "triangle". To set the timing to 10~ BTDC, set the timing mark to the deep "V" (10~ BTDC) found on the automatic transaxle flex plate.
