Alarm Warning Light Does Not Work

  1. On all models, turn ignition switch to OFF position. On Continental and Mark VII, using a jumper wire, short terminal "D", circuit No. 343 (Dark Blue/Light Green) wire of control module to ground. See Figure . If warning light comes on, go to step 4). If warning light remains off, check warning light bulb or circuit No. 343 (Dark Blue/Light Green) wire.
  2. On Town Car, short terminal No. 15, circuit No. 343 (Dark Blue/Light Green) wire of control module to ground. If warning light comes on, go to step 4). If warning light remains off, check warning light bulb or circuit No. 343 for open circuit and retest system.
  3. On Cougar and Thunderbird, short terminal No. 5, circuit No. 343 (Dark Blue/Light Green) wire of control module to ground. If warning light comes on, go to step 4). If warning light remains off, check warning light bulb or circuit No. 343 for open circuit and retest system.
  4. On Continental and Mark VII, check voltage at terminal "N", circuit No. 23 (Tan/Light Green) wire of control module. If reading is more than 9 volts, go to step 6). If reading is less than 9 volts, check fuse and circuits No. 23 (Tan/Light Green) wire and 37 (Yellow) wire. Retest system.
  5. On Town Car, check voltage at terminal No. 1, circuit No. 192 (Brown/White) wire. If reading is more than 9 volts, go to step 6). If reading is less than 9 volts, check fuse and circuit No. 192 (Brown/White) wire. On Cougar and Thunderbird, check voltage at terminal No. 1, circuit No. 23 (Tan/Light Green) wire. If reading is more than 9 volts, go to step 6). If reading is less than 9 volts, check fuse or circuits No. 23 (Tan/Light Green) wire and No. 38 (Black/Orange) wire.
  6. On Continental and Mark VII, check voltage at terminal "K", circuit No. 296 (White/Purple) wire of control module. If reading is less than 9 volts, go to step 9). If reading is more than 9 volts, check circuit No. 296 (White/Purple) wire for short.
  7. On Town Car, check voltage at terminal No. 4, circuit No. 59 (Dark Green/Purple) wire of control module. If reading is less than 9 volts, go to step 9). If reading is more than 9 volts, check circuit No. 59 (Dark Green/Purple) wire for short.
  8. On Cougar and Thunderbird, check voltage at terminal No. 4, circuit No. 296 (White/Purple) wire of control module. If reading is less than 9 volts, go to step 9). If reading is more than 9 volts, check circuit No. 296 (White/Purple) wire for short.
  9. On all models, open a vehicle door. Activate electric door lock switch. If warning light comes on, system is okay. If warning light is off, replace control module and retest system.
