Transmission Position Sensor/Switch: Description and Operation

The Manual Lever Position Sensor (MLPS) is mounted on the transmission and is splined to the manual control lever assembly. The sensor sends a signal to the Transmission Electronic Control Assembly (TECA), thereby notifying the TECA of the current transmission operating range so the proper electronic operating mode will be used.
