Brake Circuit

  1. On Mustang, connect voltmeter between circuit No. 810 (Red/Light Green wire) and ground. Battery voltage should be present with brake pedal pressed. Voltmeter should indicate less than one volt with brake pedal released. If voltage is not as specified, check wiring, brakelight bulbs, clutch and brakelight switches.
  2. On Escort and Tracer, connect ohmmeter between thick Green wire and ground. On Tempo and Topaz, connect ohmmeter between circuit No. 810 (Red/Light Green wire) and ground. On all other models, connect ohmmeter between circuit No. 511 (Light Green wire) and ground. Resistance should be 5 ohms. If resistance is not as specified, check wiring, brakelight bulbs, brakelight and clutch switches.
