Throttle Position Sensor: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

Component Location:

1. Remove the air intake tube.
2. Disconnect the Throttle Position (TP) sensor connector.
3. Remove the two sensor retaining screws.
4. Remove the TP sensor.

INSTALLATION

1. Position the TP sensor on the throttle body. Ensure that rotary tangs on the sensor are in proper alignment and the wires are pointing down.

CAUTION: Slide rotary tangs into position over the throttle shaft blade, then rotate the TP sensor CLOCKWISE ONLY to installed position. Failure to install the TP sensor in this manner may result in excessive idle speeds.

2. Secure the sensor to the throttle body assembly with two retaining screws. Tighten the screws to 25-30 in lb (2.8-3.4 Nm).

NOTE: The TP sensor is not adjustable.

3. Connect the TP sensor electrical connector.
4. Install the air intake tube.
