Bench Testing: Rotor

Measure resistance between rotor slip rings. If resistance is not 3-4 ohms, replace rotor. Check for continuity between individual slip rings and rotor shaft. If continuity exists, rotor or slip ring is grounded. Replace rotor. Inspect condition and color of slip rings. If dark or grooved, polish in a lathe with fine sandpaper.
