Shift Control Cable
CAUTION:
After completing linkage adjustments, verify neutral safety switch operates properly. With parking brake and service brakes applied, try to start engine in each gear position. Engine must crank only when gearshift lever is in Neutral and Park.
- Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove shift console. Set shift lever to Park position. Remove shift lever knob and lock nut. Remove shift quadrant attaching screws.
- Loosen transmission shift cable bracket bolts. Adjust shift cable and bracket at control lever to desired position. Check shift cable and bracket at transaxle lever for adjustment.
- Lightly press selector cam to verify clearances are within specification. See Fig 1. Verify guide plate and guide pin are within specification when control lever is set to Neutral and Drive positions. Readjust cable and bracket as necessary.
