Pinpoint Test C - AUTOLOCK Does Not Work (Explorer)
- Ensure autolock and relock features operate as described in owners manual. If autolock operates as specified, no problem is indicated at this time. If autolock does not operate as specified, go to next step.
- Perform enable/disable sequence for autolock/relock feature as described in owner's manual. If horn chirps once and is followed by a longer honk, autolock is now enabled. Repeat step 1). If only one horn chirp is heard, autolock has been disabled. Repeat step to enable. Go to next step. If enable sequence does not respond, ensure all doors, liftgate and windows are closed and theft system has been disarmed. Verify horn output and door ajar, door lock/unlock switch and ignition inputs to RAP module with NGS tester.
- Connect NGS tester following manufacturers instructions. Enter RAP and PID/DATA. Select BOO-RAP to monitor BRAKE ON/OFF switch. Ensure display shows ON and OFF state as brake pedal is pressed and released. If operation is as specified, go to next step. If display shows always ON state, check HI-MOUNT brake bulb and replace as necessary or check BRAKE ON/OFF switch circuit (Light/Green wire) for open or short. If display shows always OFF state, check Light Green wire or replace BRAKE ON/OFF switch if necessary.
- Enter RAP and PID/DATA. Select DOORRAP to monitor GEM DOOR AJAR state. Ensure all doors, liftgate and liftgate glass are closed. Ensure display changes from AJAR to CLOSED as door is opened and closed. If operation is as specified, go to next step. If display shows always AJAR, check for short-to-ground in door ajar circuit (Light Blue/White wire). If display shows always CLOSED, check for open in door ajar circuit (Light Blue/White wire). Check door, liftgate and liftgate window ajar inputs to GEM.
- Enter RAP and PID/DATA. Select IGN-RAP to monitor ignition state. Cycle ignition off and on. If display changes from OFF to RUN/AC, contact RAP module manufacturer for additional information. If display shows always RUN/AC state, repair ignition switch or check ignition circuit (Black/Pink wire) for short. If display shows always OFF, check Black/Pink wire for open or short-to-ground. Check for blown IGN fuse or faulty ignition switch.
