Knock Sensor: Description and Operation

Knock Sensor (KS):

The Knock Sensor (KS) is a piezoelectric device that detects excessive engine vibration indicating an engine knock condition. A voltage signal is produced from the resonation of the KS and is transferred to the powertrain control module. The signal is used to regulate ignition timing to compensate for the condition.
