Test B - No Communication With Rap Module

  1. Check ROOM and MIRR fuses located in interior fuse panel. If fuses are okay, reinstall fuses and go to step 6). If ROOM fuse is blown, go to next step. If MIRR fuse is blown, go to step 5).
  2. Disconnect RAP module connector C2. See CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Disconnect ignition switch 6-pin harness connector. Replace ROOM fuse. If fuse is okay, go to next step. If fuse blows again, repair Blue/Red wire between RAP module connector and fuse panel. See WIRING DIAGRAM  .
  3. Disconnect RAP module connector C1. See CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Measure resistance between ground and ignition switch connector C1, terminal No. 5 (White/Black wire). See Fig 1 . If resistance is greater than 10 k/ohms, reconnect ignition swi tch connector and go to next step. If resistance is not greater than 10 k/ohms, repair to ground short in White/Black. See WIRING DIAGRAM  .

  4. Cycle ignition switch through its different positions. Check ROOM fuse again. If ROOM fuse is okay, replace ignition switch. See STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES article. If ROOM fuse blows again, replace RAP module. See CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  5. Disconnect RAP module connector C1. See CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Replace MIRR fuse. Turn ignition on. Check MIRR fuse. If MIRR fuse is okay, replace RAP module. See CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If MIRR fuse blows again, repair Blue/Black wire between RAP module connector and fuse panel. See WIRING DIAGRAM  .
  6. Turn ignition off. Disconnect RAP module connector C2. See CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Measure resistance between ground and RAP module connector C2, terminal No. 14 (Black wire). See Fig 2 . If resistance is less than 5 ohms. go to next step. If resistance is not greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Black wire between ground and PAP connector. See WIRING DIAGRAM  .

  7. Measure voltage between ground and RAP module connector C2, terminal No. 12 (Blue/Red wire). See Fig 2 . If voltage is greater than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is not greater than 10 volts, repair open in Blue/Red wire between RAP module connector and fuse panel. See WIRING DIAGRAM  .
  8. Disconnect RAP module connector C1. See CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and RAP connector C1, terminal No. 16 (White/Black wire). See Figure . If voltage is greater than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is not greater than 10 volts, repair open in White/Black wire. See WIRING DIAGRAM  .
  9. Measure voltage between ground and RAP module connector C1, terminal No. 25 (Blue/Black wire). If voltage is greater than 10 volts, go to MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK article to continue diagnosis. If voltage is not greater than 10 volts, repair open in Blue/Black wire between RAP module connector and fuse panel. See WIRING DIAGRAM  .
