Test C: System Does Not Operate Properly

  1. Check Fuse No. 25 (20-Amp)

Check fuse No. 25 in central junction box. If fuse is okay, go to next step. If fuse is not okay, replace fuse. If fuse blows again, check fuse circuit for a short circuit to ground. Repair wiring as necessary.
  2. Check Anti-Theft System (Door Activation)

Open left front door window. Arm anti-theft system. Open left front door without using key or Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitter. Repeat test for each door. If alarm system operates correctly, go to next step. If alarm does not activate for left front door, go to step 17). If alarm does not activate for right front door, go to step 19). If alarm does not activate for left rear door, go to step 21). If alarm does not activate for right rear door, go to step 23). If horn does not operate, go to step 9). If headlights and brakelights do not operate, go to step 11). If headlights do not operate but brakelights do, go to step 12). If brakelights do not operate but headlights do, go to step 14).
  3. Check Anti-Theft System (Luggage Compartment Activation)

Arm anti-theft system. Open luggage compartment. If alarm activates, go to step 5). If alarm does not activate, go to next step.
  4. Check Black/Red Wire For Open Circuit

Disconnect anti-theft control module connector C451A. Disconnect luggage compartment light switch connector. Measure resistance in Black/Red wire between anti-theft module terminal No. 12 and luggage compartment switch connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace anti-theft module. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair Black/Red wire circuit.
  5. Check Anti-Theft System (Engine Compartment Activation)

Arm anti-theft system. Open hood. If alarm activates, system is okay. If alarm does not activate, go to next step.
  6. Check Engine Compartment Switch

Disconnect engine compartment switch. Measure resistance between engine compartment switch connector terminals while depressing and releasing button on engine compartment switch. If resistance is less than 5 ohms with button depressed and greater than 10 k/ohms with button released, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms with button depressed and less than 10 k/ohms with button released, replace switch.
  7. Check Ground To Engine Compartment Switch

Measure resistance between engine compartment switch Black wire terminal and ground. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair Black wire circuit.
  8. Check Black/Yellow Wire Circuit For Open

Disconnect anti-theft module connector C451B. Measure resistance in Black/Yellow wire between anti-theft module connector terminal No. 8 and engine compartment switch. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace anti-theft module. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair Black/Yellow wire circuit.
  9. Check Horn Operation

Press horn pad on steering wheel. If horn operates, go to next step. If horn does not operate, see appropriate STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES article.
  10. Check Horn Alarm Signal Black/White Wire Circuit

Disconnect anti-theft module connector C451A. Connect jumper wire between anti-theft module connector terminal No. 6 (Black/White wire) and ground. If horn operates, replace anti-theft module. If horn does not operate, repair Black/White wire circuit.
  11. Check Headlight/Brakelight Alarm Signal Black/Red Wire Circuit

Disconnect anti-theft module connector C451B. Connect jumper wire between anti-theft module connector terminal No. 4 (Black/Red wire) and ground. If headlights and brakelights turn on, replace anti-theft module. If headlights and brakelights do not turn on, repair Black/Red wire circuit.
  12. Check Power To Panic Alarm Relay

Disconnect panic alarm headlight relay located behind right side of glove box. Measure voltage between relay base terminal No. 5 (Orange/White wire) and ground, and between Orange/Green wire and ground. If voltages are greater than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltages are less than 10 volts, repair Orange/White and/or Orange/Green wire circuits.
  13. Check Panic Alarm Headlight Relay

Check operation of panic alarm headlight relay. See WIRING DIAGRAMS. Replace relay as necessary. If relay is okay, repair Orange/White wire circuit.
  14. Check Power To Panic Alarm Brakelight Relay

Disconnect panic alarm brakelight relay located behind right side of glove box. Measure voltage between relay base Orange wire and ground, and between Orange/Yellow wire and ground. If voltages are greater than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltages are less than 10 volts, repair Orange and/or Orange/Yellow wire circuits.
  15. Check Black/Yellow Wire Circuit For Open

Ensure panic alarm brakelight relay is disconnected. Measure resistance of Black/Yellow wire between panic alarm headlight relay and panic alarm brakelight relay. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair Black/Yellow wire circuit.
  16. Check Panic Alarm Brakelight Relay

Check operation of panic alarm brakelight relay. See WIRING DIAGRAMS. Replace relay as necessary. If relay is okay, repair Orange/Yellow wire circuit.
  17. Check Left Front Door Ajar Switch Signal

Ensure ignition is off. Disconnect anti-theft module connector C451A. Open left front door. Measure resistance between anti-theft module connector terminal No. 11 (Black/Yellow wire) and ground. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, replace anti-theft module.
  18. Check Black/Yellow Wire Circuit For Short To Voltage

Disconnect left front door ajar switch. Measure resistance between anti-theft module connector terminal No. 11 (Black/Yellow wire) and ground. If resistance is greater than 10 k/ohms, replace left front door ajar switch. If resistance is less than 10 k/ohms, repair Black/Yellow wire circuit.
  19. Check Right Front Door Ajar Switch Signal

Ensure ignition is off. Disconnect anti-theft module connector C451B. Open right front door. Measure resistance between anti-theft module connector terminal No. 11 (Black/Blue wire) and ground.
