Side Air Bag Module: Installation

Foreign objects between side air bag module and seat components may be projected toward occupants during air bag deployment. Personal injury may result. Ensure side air bag module, air bag mounting surfaces, deployment chute and seat back pad are free of foreign objects.
Improper air bag deployment is possible. Personal injury may result. If air bag cover has separated or air bag material has been exposed, air bag may deploy improperly. Air bag module must be replaced. Do not attempt to repair air bag module.

- To install, reverse removal procedure. If installing NEW air bag module, use NEW mounting nuts. If installing same air bag module, original nuts may be reused. Tighten nuts and bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Connect negative battery cable. With air bag simulators installed at all remaining deployable devices, perform system operation check. See SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK . Disconnect negative battery cable. Wait at least one minute for back-up power supply to deplete stored energy. Activate air bag system. See ACTIVATING SYSTEM under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM.
