Removal and Installation

- Remove the instrument panel steering column cover by pulling straight outward.
- Remove the upper steering column shroud.
- Release the tilt lever, remove the 3 screws and then remove the lower steering column shroud.
- Disconnect the multi-function switch electrical connector.
- Disconnect the passive anti-theft system (PATS) and ignition switch connectors.
- Using a suitable tool, cut slots into the heads of the 2 steering lock module bolts.
- Remove the 2 steering lock module bolts using a screwdriver.
- Discard the steering lock module bolts.
- To install, use new steering lock module bolts and tighten until the heads of the bolts shear off.
- Remove the steering lock module clamp and the steering lock module assembly from the steering column.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
NOTE:
The instrument panel steering column cover is held in place by tabs that clip to the instrument panel.
NOTE:
Release the upper steering column shroud, by pressing inward on the sides of the shroud and lifting upwards.
NOTE:
After cutting slots in the steering lock module bolts, clean all metal shavings and foreign material from the steering column.
NOTE:
The steering lock module bolts are designed to sheer off when tightened.
NOTE:
Align the locating tab on the steering lock module with the window of the steering column tube. Verify that the lock module operates correctly.
