Instrument Panel: Notes

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Mercury Mountaineer and 2004 Ford Explorer. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: If removing the instrument panel, follow Steps 1 through  3. Otherwise proceed to Step  4.
  1. Remove the A-pillar trim panels and cowl side trim panels. For additional information, refer to INTERIOR TRIM PANELS .
  2. Remove the floor console. For additional information, refer to FLOOR CONSOLE - FRONT .
  3. Depower the supplemental restraint system (SRS). For additional information, refer to DISABLING SYSTEM .
  4. Remove the components in the order indicated in the following illustration and table. To remove individual components, only carry out the listed steps.
    PART REMOVAL STEPS

    Steering column opening cover 2, 3
    Steering column cover (lower) 4, 5
    Steering column cover 4-6
    Instrument panel center finish panel 7-9
    Instrument cluster finish panel 2-13
    Instrument panel 1-5, 13-44
