Test C: Driver Door Lock Inoperative Or Does Not Operate Properly

  1. Lock and unlock driver door using driver door lock control switch. If driver door locks and unlocks properly, go to step  5 . If driver door does not lock and unlock properly, go to next step.
  2. Using NGS tester, perform GEM self-test. If DTC B1982 or B1983 exist, go to step  5 . If no DTCs exist, go to next step.
  3. Remove driver door trim panel. Disconnect driver door lock actuator connector. Using NGS tester, access Generic Electronic Module (GEM) active command DOOR LOCK CONTROL. Measure voltage between ground and driver door lock actuator connector terminal No. 1 (Pink/Black wire). Trigger LOCK to ON. If voltage momentarily exists when triggered ON, go to next step. If no voltage exists when triggered ON, repair open in Pink/Black wire. Recheck system operation.
  4. Using NGS tester, access Generic Electronic Module (GEM) active command DOOR LOCK CONTROL. Measure voltage between ground and driver door lock actuator connector terminal No. 2 (Pink/Orange wire). Trigger UNLOCK to ON. If voltage momentarily exists when triggered ON, replace driver door lock actuator. Recheck system operation. If no voltage exists when triggered ON, repair open in Pink/Orange wire. Recheck system operation.
  5. Using NGS tester, access Generic Electronic Module (GEM) active command DOOR LOCK CONTROL. Trigger driver door UNLOCK to ON. If driver door lock unlocks, go to step  9 . If driver door lock does not lock and unlock, go to next step.
  6. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Remove fuse No. 222 (20-amp) from Central Junction Box (CJB) located behind left side of instrument panel. Disconnect GEM 26-pin connector C201d. See Figure . Measure voltage between ground and CJB C201d terminal No. 22. If any voltage exists, repair short to power in CJB as necessary. Recheck system operation. If no voltage exists, go to next step.
  7. Measure resistance between ground and CJB C201d terminal No. 22. If resistance is greater than 10 k/ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 10 k/ohms or less, repair short to ground in CJB as necessary. Recheck system operation.
  8. Install CJB fuse No. 222. Connect a fused jumper wire between ground and CJB C201d terminal No. 22. Measure voltage between ground and driver door lock actuator connector terminal No. 2 (Red/White wire). If more than 10 volts exist, go to next step. If 10 volts or less exists, repair CJB as necessary. Recheck system operation.
  9. Disconnect all GEM connectors. Check for corroded, damaged or pushed out pins. Repair as necessary. Reconnect GEM connectors. Ensure connectors seat correctly. Recheck system operation. If fault still exists, replace GEM. Recheck system operation. If fault no longer exists, fault may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
