Grid Filament Test

Connect voltmeter negative lead to ground. Touch voltmeter positive lead to each grid filament at its midpoint. A reading of about 5 volts indicates grid filament is good. A zero reading indicates grid filament is broken between midpoint and battery side of grid. A 12-volt reading indicates grid line is broken between midpoint and ground.
