Erase All Keys & Program 2 Keys
NOTE:
This procedure is to be used when a customer needs keys programmed into system and does not have 2 programmed ignition keys. This procedure is also used when a new ignition switch has been installed. After 2 ignition keys are programmed, see PROGRAMMING USING 2 PROGRAMMED KEYS to program any additional keys.
CAUTION:
This procedure will erase all programmed ignition keys from vehicles memory and vehicle will not start until at least 2 ignition keys have been programmed.
- Ensure 2 PATS key are available and both operate ignition switch. Turn ignition switch from OFF to RUN position. Connect New Generation Star (NGS) tester to DLC. Follow service access procedure to obtain security access. See SECURITY ACCESS .
- Select IGNITION KEY CODE ERASE on NGS tester. Place ignition switch in RUN position and disconnect NGS tester. Turn ignition off. Install first key to be programmed in ignition switch. Turn ignition switch to RUN position for 3 seconds then back to OFF position. Remove key. Within 5 seconds, insert second ignition key to be programmed into ignition switch and turn ignition switch to RUN position for 3 seconds, then back to OFF position. Remove key. Vehicle should now start with both these keys. If any additional key are to be programmed, see PROGRAMMING USING 2 PROGRAMMED KEYS .
