Shift Cable

  1. Remove upper and lower steering column shrouds. See Fig 1 and Fig 2 . Place a 0.023 inch (0.6 mm) feeler gauge between gearshift lever and lever detent. See Fig 3 .
  2. Place range gearshift lever in Drive position. Hang a 3 lb. (1.4 kg) weight from gearshift lever. Loosen gearshift cable adjuster to adjust the cable then tighten cable adjuster. See Fig 4 . Remove the weight from the gearshift lever.
  3. Place the gearshift lever in the Park position and remove the feeler gauge. See Fig 3 . Install the lower steering column shroud. Install the screws. See Fig 2 . Install the upper steering column shroud. See Fig 1 .
