Rear Axle Assembly: Notes

Special Tool(s)

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING .
  2. Remove the rear halfshafts. For additional information, refer to REAR AXLE HALFSHAFTS, BEARINGS AND SEALS .
  3. Remove the driveshaft assembly. For additional information, refer to REAR DRIVESHAFT .
  4. Position a suitable hydraulic jack to the axle housing. Securely strap the jack to the housing.
  5. Remove the components in the order indicated in the following illustration and table.

  6. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
  7. Fill the axle with the specified quantity of the specified lubricant.
