DTC U0418: Invalid Data Received From Brake System Control Module
| Description: | The powertrain control module (PCM) continuously monitors controller area network (CAN) for messages from the anti-lock brake system (ABS) module. This DTC sets when the PCM does not receive the ABS message within a defined time period, or when the message received is out of expected range, or if the message received contains invalid data. When this DTC is set the regenerative braking is disabled until the next driving cycle. | ||
| Possible Causes: |
|
||
| Diagnostic Aids: | Network DTC concerns occur during module-to-module communication. Check for (ABS) module DTCs. If no (ABS) module DTCs are present, carry out the network test on the scan tool. If the network test fails, refer to MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK , and carry out the diagnosis for the module that fails the network test. If the network test passes, clear the DTCs, the concern is not present at this time. | ||
| Application | Key On Engine Off | Key On Engine Running | Continuous Memory |
| All | Refer to the Description, Possible Causes and Diagnostic Aids for the DTC. | ||
Note 1: Refer to SPEED CONTROL .
Note 2: Install a new transaxle. Refer to AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE/TRANSMISSION EXTERNAL CONTROLS .
Note 3: Clear the transaxle control module (TCM) continuous DTCs. Repeat the self-test. If DTC P0613 is present again, install a new transaxle. Refer to AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE/TRANSMISSION EXTERNAL CONTROLS .
Note 4: Verify that automatic transaxle fluid level is correct. If OK, install a new transaxle. Refer to AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE/TRANSMISSION EXTERNAL CONTROLS .
Note 5: Clear the transaxle control module (TCM) continuous DTCs. Repeat the self-test. If DTC P0A1A is present again, install a new transaxle. Refer to AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE/TRANSMISSION EXTERNAL CONTROLS .
Note 6: Clear the transaxle control module (TCM) continuous DTCs. Carry out a TCM KOEO on demand self-test. If DTC P0A90 is present again, install a new transaxle. Refer to AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE/TRANSMISSION EXTERNAL CONTROLS . If the DTC is not present, concern can not be duplicated or identified at this time. Go to PPT Z in for intermittent diagnostics.
Note 7: Check for damaged or seized engine. If the engine is OK, install a new transaxle. Refer to AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE/TRANSMISSION EXTERNAL CONTROLS .
Note 8: Clear the transaxle control module (TCM) continuous DTCs. Carry out a TCM KOEO on demand self-test. If DTC P0A92 is present again, check for damaged or seized engine, and install a new transaxle. Refer to AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE/TRANSMISSION EXTERNAL CONTROLS . If the DTC is not present, concern can not be duplicated or identified at this time. Go to PPT Z for intermittent diagnostics.
Note 9: DTC P1000 is ignored in the key on, engine off (KOEO) and key on, engine running (KOER) self-tests. Disregard DTC P1000 and continue as directed.
