Pinpoint Test
- VERIFY THE CUSTOMER CONCERN
- Ignition ON.
- Verify that there is an observable symptom present.
- Is an observable symptom present?
- Yes: GO to step 2 .
- No: The system is operating normally at this time. The Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.
- CHECK THE COMMUNICATION NETWORK
- Ignition ON.
- Using a scan tool, perform the network test.
- Does the Body Control Module (BCM) pass the network test?
- Yes: GO to step 3 .
- No: REFER to DIAGNOSTIC ROUTINE I .
- RECHECK THE Tire Pressure Monitor (TPM) MODULE Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).
- Using a scan tool, clear the Tire Pressure Monitor (TPM) module Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).
- Ignition OFF.
- Ignition ON.
- Wait at least 10 seconds.
- Repeat the Tire Pressure Monitor (TPM) module self-test.
- Is Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U0140: 87 present?
- Yes: GO to step 4 .
- No: The system is operating correctly at this time. The Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.
- CHECK FOR Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U0140: 00 SET IN OTHER MODULES.
- Clear continuous Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) from all modules.
- Ignition OFF.
- Ignition ON.
- Wait 10 seconds.
- Retrieve the continuous memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) from all modules.
- Is Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U0140: 00 set in the Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) module or the Accessory Protocol Interface Module (APIM)?
- Yes: INSTALL a new Body Control Module (BCM). REFER to BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) - WITH INTELLIGENT ACCESS (IA) or REFER to BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) - WITHOUT INTELLIGENT ACCESS (IA) .
- No: INSTALL a new Tire Pressure Monitor (TPM) module. REFER to DTC CHART: TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR (TPM) MODULE .
