Pinpoint Test
- CHECK FOR DTCs
FROM THE DSM
- Ignition ON.
- Using a scan tool, perform DSM self-test.
Are any DTCs retrieved?
- Yes: If DTC B112B is present, GO to 4.
For all other DSM DTCs , REFER to DTC CHART: DRIVER SEAT MODULE (DSM) .
- No: GO to 2 .
- CHECK THE OPERATION OF THE POWER FOLDING MIRRORS
- Position the exterior mirror control switch to the center position.
- Press the exterior mirror control switch rearward towards the FOLD/UNFOLD position to activate the power folding mirrors.
Does either the LH or RH power folding mirror operate?
- Yes: GO to 10.
- No: GO to 3 .
- CHECK THE EXTERIOR MIRROR CONTROL SWITCHNOTE: The following step uses a test light to simulate normal circuit loads. Use only the test light recommended in the Special Tools table at the beginning of this information. To avoid connector terminal damage, use the Flex Probe Kit for the test light probe connection to the vehicle. Do not use the test light probe directly on any connector. Refer to Special Tool(s) .
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: DSM C341C.
- Ignition ON.
- While pressing and releasing the power folding mirror button, monitor:
DSM Ground C341C Ground Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 21 CPP09 (VT/OG) Test Light - Ground
Did the test light illuminate when the button is pressed and not illuminate when the button is released?
- CHECK THE FOLDING MOTOR CONTROL CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: DSM C341C.
- Ignition ON.
- Measure:
DSM Ground C341C Ground Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 21 CPP09 (VT/OG) - Ground
Is any voltage present?
- CHECK THE FOLDING MOTOR CONTROL CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: Master Window Control Switch.
- Measure:
DSM Ground C341C Ground Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 21 CPP09 (VT/OG) - Ground
Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms?
- Yes: GO to 6 .
- No: REPAIR the circuit. SYNCHRONIZE the power folding mirrors. REFER to Mirror Synchronization - Exterior, Power Folding .
- CHECK THE FOLDING MOTOR CONTROL CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Measure:
DSM Exterior Mirror Control Switch C341C C504 Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 21 CPP09 (VT/OG) 19 CPM22 (GY/BN)
Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?
- Yes: INSTALL a new exterior mirror control switch (integral to the master window control switch). REFER to WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH . SYNCHRONIZE the power folding mirrors. REFER to Mirror Synchronization - Exterior, Power Folding .
- No: REPAIR the circuit. SYNCHRONIZE the power folding mirrors. REFER to Mirror Synchronization - Exterior, Power Folding .
- Measure:
- CHECK THE FOLDING MIRROR OUTPUT CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: LH and RH Exterior Mirror.
- Ignition ON.
- Measure:
DSM Ground C341C Ground Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 1 CPM39 (GN/VT) - Ground 2 CPM04 (VT/BN) - Ground
Are any voltages present?
- Yes: REPAIR the affected circuit(s). SYNCHRONIZE the power folding mirrors. REFER to Mirror Synchronization - Exterior, Power Folding .
- No: GO to 8 .
- CHECK THE FOLDING MIRROR OUTPUT CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Ignition OFF.
- Measure:
DSM Ground C341C Ground Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 1 CPM39 (GN/VT) - Ground 2 CPM04 (VT/BN) - Ground
Are the resistances greater than 10, 000 ohms?
- Yes: GO to 9 .
- No: REPAIR the affected circuit(s). SYNCHRONIZE the power folding mirrors. REFER to Mirror Synchronization - Exterior, Power Folding .
- CHECK THE FOLDING MIRROR OUTPUT CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN
- For incorrectly folding LH mirror, measure:
DSM LH Exterior Mirror C341C C516 Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 1 CPM39 (GN/VT) 16 CPM01 (YE/GN) 2 CPM04 (VT/BN) 14 CPM02 (BU) - For incorrectly folding RH mirror, measure:
DSM RH Exterior Mirror C341C C601 Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 1 CPM39 (GN/VT) 16 CPM01 (YE/GN) 2 CPM04 (VT/BN) 14 CPM02 (BU)
Are the resistances less than 3 ohms?
- Yes: GO to 13.
- No: REPAIR the affected circuit(s). SYNCHRONIZE the power folding mirrors. REFER to Mirror Synchronization - Exterior, Power Folding .
- For incorrectly folding LH mirror, measure:
- CHECK THE EXTERIOR MIRRORNOTE: The following step uses a test light to simulate normal circuit loads. - Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: Incorrectly folding RH or LH Exterior Mirror.
- Ignition ON.
- For incorrectly folding LH mirror, while pressing and releasing the power folding mirror button, monitor:
LH Exterior Mirror LH Exterior Mirror C516 C516 Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 14 CPM02 (BU) Test Light 16 CPM01 (YE/GN) - For incorrectly folding RH mirror, while pressing and releasing the power folding mirror button, monitor:

Did the test light illuminate when the button is pressed?
- Yes: CHECK the exterior mirror jumper harness between the vehicle harness and the exterior mirror glass for open circuits and damaged or pushed-out pins. If the jumper harness is not OK, REPAIR the jumper harness. If the jumper harness cannot be repaired, INSTALL a new exterior mirror. REFER to Exterior Mirror . SYNCHRONIZE the power folding mirrors. REFER to Mirror Synchronization - Exterior, Power Folding .
- No: GO to 11 .
- CHECK THE POWER FOLD EXTERIOR MIRROR CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: DSM C341C.
- For incorrectly folding LH mirror, measure:
DSM LH Exterior Mirror C341C C516 Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 1 CPM39 (GN/VT) 16 CPM01 (YE/GN) 2 CPM04 (VT/BN) 14 CPM02 (BU) - For incorrectly folding RH mirror, measure:
DSM RH Exterior Mirror C341C C601 Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 1 CPM39 (GN/VT) 16 CPM01 (YE/GN) 2 CPM04 (VT/BN) 14 CPM02 (BU)
Are the resistances less than 3 ohms?
- Yes: GO to 13.
- No: REPAIR the affected circuit(s). SYNCHRONIZE the power folding mirrors. REFER to Mirror Synchronization - Exterior, Power Folding .
- CHECK THE EXTERIOR MIRROR CONTROL SWITCH
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: Master Window Control Switch.
- Ignition ON.
- Measure:
DSM Ground C341C Ground Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 21 CPP09 (VT/OG) - Ground
Is any voltage present?
- Yes: REPAIR the circuit. SYNCHRONIZE the power folding mirrors. REFER to Mirror Synchronization - Exterior, Power Folding .
- No: INSTALL a new exterior mirror control switch (integral to the master window control switch). REFER to WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH . SYNCHRONIZE the power folding mirrors. REFER to Mirror Synchronization - Exterior, Power Folding .
- CHECK THE DSM FOR CORRECT OPERATION
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect and inspect all DSM connectors.
- Repair:
- corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
- damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
- Reconnect the DSM connectors and all previously disconnected exterior system connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.
- Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
- Yes: CHECK OASIS for any applicable TSBs . If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions. If no TSBs address this concern, INSTALL a new DSM. REFER to DRIVER SEAT MODULE (DSM) .
- No: The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
