Powertrain/Drivetrain Mount Neutralizing

NOTE: Refer to the ENGINE - 2.0L DURATEC-HE or ENGINE - 2.0L ECOBOOST for the specification and procedure for special instructions on loosening and tightening mount fasteners.
  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist.

    Refer to: JACKING AND LIFTING - OVERVIEW .

  2. Loosen, but do not remove, the powertrain/drivetrain mount fasteners.
  3. Lower the vehicle.
  4. NOTE: Do not twist or strain the powertrain/drivetrain mounts or damage to the mounts may occur.
  5. Start the vehicle and move it in forward 0.6 m (1.97 ft) - 1.2 m (3.94 ft). Then move the vehicle in reverse the same distance.
  6. Raise and support the vehicle.
  7. Tighten the powertrain/drivetrain mount fasteners.
  8. Lower the vehicle.
  9. Test the system for normal operation.
