Driveshaft Indexing

NOTE:
If indexing the driveshaft does not eliminate the vibration, balance the driveshaft. For additional information, refer to Driveshaft Indexing .
- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING AND LIFTING .
- Remove and discard the 4 front driveshaft-to-transfer case bolts.
- Rotate the flange 90 degrees clockwise.
- Connect the front driveshaft and install the 4 new bolts.
- Tighten to 70 Nm (52 lb-ft).
- Disconnect the rear driveshaft universal joint flange.
- Discard the 4 bolts.
- Rotate the rear pinion 90 degrees clockwise.
- Connect the rear driveshaft and install 4 new bolts.
- Tighten to 70 Nm (52 lb-ft).
- Lower the vehicle and test drive.
- Repeat the procedure if necessary.
CAUTION:
Do not reuse the CV joint bolts. Install new bolts or damage to the vehicle may occur.
NOTE:
Index-mark the shaft for reference.
