Liftgate Alignment

Inspection 

  1. 1.

    Check liftgate to body dimensions. Refer to: Body and Frame .

      If dimensions are ok, liftgate alignment is not necessary. Continue to Striker Adjustment. Refer to: Liftgate Striker Adjustment .

      If liftgate alignment is necessary continue to

      Adjustment  .

Adjustment 

Liftgate left and right, up and down alignment 

  1. 1.

    1. 1.

      Remove the screws.

    1. 2.

      Remove the push-pins and release the clips.

    1. 3.

      Remove the luggage compartment opening trim panel.

  1. 2.

    Remove the bolts and the liftgate striker.

  1. 3.

    Loosen the bolts.

    Loosen: 2 turn(s)

  1. 4.

    Adjust the liftgate to specification. Refer to: Body and Frame .

  1. 5.

    Tighten the bolts.

    Torque: 22 lb.ft (30 Nm)

  1. 6.

    Install the liftgate striker and tighten the bolts.

  1. 7.

    Adjust the liftgate striker to specification. Refer to: Liftgate Striker Adjustment .

  1. 8.

    Install the removed components.

Liftgate in and out alignment 

  1. 9.

    Lower the headliner. Refer to: Headliner - Lowering .

  1. 10.

    Loosen the nuts.

    Loosen: 2 turn(s)

      Remove the screws.

    1. 2.

      Remove the push-pins and release the clips.

      Remove the luggage compartment opening trim panel.

    Remove the bolts and the liftgate striker.

  1. 13.

    On both sides. Adjust the nominal overslam bumpers.

    Adjust the liftgate to specification. Refer to: Body and Frame .

  1. 15.

    Tighten the nuts.

    Torque: 41 lb.ft (55 Nm)

    Install the liftgate striker and tighten the bolts.

  1. 17.

    Adjust the liftgate striker to specification. Refer to: Liftgate Striker Adjustment .

  1. 18.

    Install the removed components.

Power Liftgate 

  1. 19.

    If equipped, carry out the power liftgate initialization. Refer to: Power Liftgate Initialization .
