Transfer Case Fluid Level Check

Check 

  1. Refer to: Health and Safety Precautions .
  2. NOTE: Make sure that the vehicle is standing on a level surface.

    Refer to: JACKING AND LIFTING - OVERVIEW .

  3. Check the component for leaks.
  4. Transfer case Fluid Level Check should only be carried out if an oil leak was identified.
  5. Remove the bolts and the transfer case damper assembly.

  6. NOTE: Only use the specified lubricant.
    NOTE: The transfer case should be installed in the vehicle for this procedure.

    • Clean the fill plug and the area around fill plug. Remove the fill plug.

    • Fill the specified amount of oil through the filler plug hole until the level reaches the bottom of the filler plug hole X: 0.25 inch. Refer to: Specifications .

      Torque: 142 lb.in (16 Nm)

  7. Install the transfer case damper assembly.

    Torque: 41 lb.ft (55 Nm)
