Pinpoint Test AF: Abs Module VIN Mismatch

  1. Normal Operation and Fault Conditions

When the ignition is set to ON, the ABS module and the BCM share VIN information through the GWM over the HS-CAN1 and FD-CAN.

When a new EBB unit is installed, the ABS module must be programmed with the vehicle information. REFER to: Module Configuration - System Operation and Component Description .

    DTC Fault Trigger Conditions

    DTC Description Fault Trigger Condition
ABS U3002:62 Vehicle Identification Number: Signal Compare Failure Sets when the VIN message sent by the BCM does not match the VIN stored in the ABS module.

    Possible Causes

    • BCM configuration
    • ABS module configuration

  2. AF1 VERIFY THE ABS (ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM) MODULE DTC (DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE)

    • Ignition ON.

    • Clear the ABS module Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).

    • Put the ABS module in sleep mode by performing the following steps:

      • With ALL doors closed, set the ignition from ON to OFF.
      • Disconnect the diagnostic scan tool.
      • Open the door, exit the vehicle and close the door.
      • Wait a minimum of 90 seconds for the ABS module to enter sleep mode.

    • Ignition ON.

    • Carry out the ABS self-test.

Are any of the DTCs listed in the Fault Trigger Conditions Table present and active in the ABS module?

    Yes  GO to  AF2
No  The system is operating correctly at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.
  3. AF2 VERIFY THE NETWORK COMMUNICATION

    • Ignition ON.

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, carry out the Network Test.

    • Recored all No Communication and Invalid Data DTCs.

Do all equipped modules communicate with the diagnostic scan tool?

    Yes  GO to  AF3
No  DIAGNOSE the module not responding to the diagnostic scan tool. REFER to: Controller Area Network (CAN) Module Communications Network .
  4. AF3 CHECK FOR COMMUNICATION DTC (DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE) S

    • Using the recorded results from the Network Test, determine if there are any No Communication With The BCM, No Communication With The GWM, Invalid Data Received From The BCM, or Invalid Data Received From The GWM DTCs present in the ABS module.

Are there any No communication or any invalid data DTCs present in the ABS module?

Yes  DIAGNOSE all No Communication and Invalid Data DTCs in the ABS module before diagnosing this DTC. REFER to the ABS Module DTC Chart.
    No  GO to  AF4
  5. AF4 CONFIGURE THE ABS (ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM) MODULE USING PMI (PROGRAMMABLE MODULE INSTALLATION)

    • Ignition ON.

    • Using a diagostic scan tool, configure the ABS module using PMI. Follow all diagnostic scan tool directions. REFER to: Module Programming .

    • Using a diagostic scan tool, clear the ABS DTCs.

    • Using a diagostic scan tool, carry out the ABS self-test.

Are any of the DTCs listed in the Fault Trigger Conditions Table present and active in the ABS module?

Yes  Using a diagnostic scan tool, PROGRAM the BCM using PMI. FOLLOW all scan tool directions. REFER to: Module Programming .
No  The system is operating correctly. The concern was caused by an incomplete or improper programming session.
