Float Level

  1. Remove air horn and gasket. Remove power piston, metering rod assembly and float bowl insert.
  2. Attach Float Measuring Gauge (J-34817-1) to float bowl. Place Float Weight (J-34817-3) in base with contact pin against outer edge of float lever.
  3. NOTE: Use special tools on GM models, only.
  4. Measure float level from top of casting to a point 3/16" from large end of float. See Fig 1. Adjust float level if more than 1/16" from specification.
  5. Ajust level by bending float lever with Bender (J-34817-25). Remove tool.
  6. Check float level. Repeat procedure as needed until correct level is obtained.
