Hall Effect Sensor: Testing and Inspection

Hall Effect Switch Testing:

PROCEDURE:

1. Disconnect and remove the hall effect switch form the distributor.

2. Noting polarity marked on the switch, connect a 12 volt battery and a voltmeter.

3. The voltmeter should read less than 0.5 volts without the blade against the magnet. Replace switch if above 0.5 volts.

4. With the blade against the magnet, voltage should be within 0.5 volts of the battery voltage. Replace switch if there is a low voltage reading.
