System Diagnostics

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1995 Plymouth Voyager, 1995 Plymouth Grand Voyager, 1995 Dodge Grand Caravan, 1995 Dodge Caravan, and 1995 Chrysler Town & Country. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The self-diagnostic capabilities of this system, if properly utilized, can simplify testing. Speed control system is monitored by Powertrain Control Module (PCM).

If a problem is sensed with a monitored circuit, a diagnostic trouble code is stored in PCM. Once trouble codes are known, refer to TROUBLE CODES/MESSAGES under ENTERING ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTICS to determine questionable circuit. Test circuits and repair or replace components as required. If problem is repaired or ceases to exist, PCM cancels that trouble code after 50 ignition on/off cycles. To clear codes, refer to CLEARING TROUBLE CODES.

A specific trouble code results from a particular system failure. It is NOT necessarily the reason for that failure. Trouble code does not condemn a specific component. Trouble code calls out a probable malfunction area.
