TP Sensor Adjustment Check
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1995 Dodge Pickup and 1995 Dodge Cab & Chassis. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
TP sensor is located above fuel control lever (on fuel injection pump) and is used only on A/T models.
- Before checking TP sensor, ensure linkage is adjusted to 4.98" (126.6 mm). See Figure . Ensure correct engine low idle speed. See LOW SPEED IDLE ADJUSTMENT under PRELIMINARY INSPECTION & ADJUSTMENTS.
- Using positive lead of voltmeter, backprobe center wire terminal at TP sensor connector. Connect negative lead of voltmeter to ground. Turn ignition switch to ON position without starting engine. With throttle linkage in idle position, voltage should be 0.8-1.2 volts. With throttle linkage in Wide Open Throttle (WOT) position, voltage should be 3.0-4.1 volts. If voltage is not within specifications, adjust linkage rod connecting throttle lever and fuel injection pump. See ADJUSTING TP SENSOR & THROTTLE LINKAGE .
