System Check

  1. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). If scan tool powers up, go to next step. If scan tool does not power up, repair wiring as necessary. See appropriate wiring diagram in DATA LINK CONNECTORS article in WIRING DIAGRAMS.
  2. Turn ignition on. Attempt to establish communication with Body Control Module (BCM). If scan tool communicates with BCM, go to next step. If scan tool does not communicate with BCM, go to BCM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK in BODY CONTROL MODULES - BLAZER, BRAVADA, ENVOY, JIMMY, SONOMA, & S10 PICKUP article.
  3. Select BCM, then DISPLAY DTCS on scan tool. If scan tool displays any BCM DTCs, go to next step. If scan tool does not display any BCM DTCs, go to REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEM INOPERATIVE  under SYMPTOM TESTING.
  4. If scan tool does not display any DTCs beginning with "U", go to next step. If scan tool displays any DTCs beginning with "U", go to BCM DTC DEFINITIONS under SELF DIAGNOSTICS in BODY CONTROL MODULES - BLAZER, BRAVADA, ENVOY, JIMMY, SONOMA, & S10 PICKUP article.
  5. If scan tool does not display DTC B3102, go to REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEM INOPERATIVE  under SYMPTOM TESTING. If scan tool displays DTC B3102, go to DTC B3102 KEYLESS ENTRY DATA LINK CIRCUIT LOW in BODY CONTROL MODULES - BLAZER, BRAVADA, ENVOY, JIMMY, SONOMA, & S10 PICKUP article.
