Removal & Installation: Motor/Encoder: Removal
NOTE:
The motor/encoder gasket does not have to be replaced if the motor/encoder is being removed from the transfer case for other service procedures. Replace the motor/encoder gasket only if damaged. If the motor/encoder is being replaced, a new gasket will come with the replacement motor/encoder.
- Raise and support vehicle.
- Remove the transfer case shield. See TRANSFER CASE SHIELD .
- Remove front drive shaft. See appropriate DRIVE SHAFTS & UNIVERSAL JOINTS article in DRIVELINE/AXLES.
- Remove the motor/encoder electrical connector. See Fig 1.
- Remove the motor/encoder mounting bolts.
- Remove the motor/encoder assembly. See Fig 2.
- Remove the motor/encoder gasket.
