Removal Procedure

  1. Relieve the low and high side fuel system pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief .
  2. Remove the fuel pump insulator. Refer to Fuel Pump Insulator Replacement .
  3. Disconnect the engine wiring harness electrical connector from the high pressure fuel pump.
  4. Remove the low pressure feed pipe. Refer to Fuel Feed Pipe Replacement (At Tank) Fuel Feed Pipe Replacement (At Engine) .
  5. Remove the high pressure pipe. Refer to Fuel Feed Intermediate Pipe Replacement . Discard this pipe.
  6. CAUTION:

    Alternately loosen the fuel pump bolts one turn at a time until the pump is fully disengaged from fuel pump lifter follower. Trying to remove the pump bolts without even side-to-side loosening may result in pump plunger damage

  7. Remove and discard the high pressure fuel pump bolts (1).
  8. Remove the high pressure fuel pump (2).
  9. Remove the high pressure fuel pump roller lifter (3).

  11. Remove and discard the high pressure fuel pump O-ring (1).
  12. Remove and discard the high pressure fuel pump gasket (2).
