Hybrid Powertrain Control Module
Location
The K16 battery energy control module, also known as the hybrid/EV powertrain control module is a non-serviceable, flash-programmable module. Depending upon vehicle model it is located within the passenger compartment or behind the left rear wheel liner.
Operating Functions
The K16 battery energy control module is the main controller of powertrain operation. The control module determines when to perform normal operating modes such as electric mode and regenerative braking.
Communication and Diagnostics
The K107 drive motor control module, and the K16 battery energy control module exchange information, and commands via the hi-speed hybrid GMLAN communication circuits.
In the event a module communicates a fault condition, the K16 battery energy control module will determine if one or more operating modes are affected, and notifies the vehicle operator by illuminating the MIL and/or by displaying a message in the Driver Information Center.
