Removal Procedure

  1. Drain the cooling system. Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE 47716) , or Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static)
  2. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection

    {If equipped} Intake Manifold Cover Bolt (1) - Remove [2x]

  4. If equipped, lift up on the front of the intake manifold cover (2).

    {If equipped} Intake Manifold Cover (1) @ Upper Intake Manifold Bracket (2) - Remove

    Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Nut (1) - Remove [2x]

  7. Positive Crankcase Ventilation Tube (2) - Disconnect - Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service 
  8. Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Clamp (3) - Loosen

    Disconnect the electrical connector.

  10. Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Tube (1) - Disconnect - Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service 
  11. Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Clamp (2) - Loosen

    Air Cleaner Outlet Duct (1) - Remove

    Use a suitable tool to rotate the drive belt tensioner (1) counterclockwise to relieve tension from the drive belt (2).

  14. Remove the drive belt (2) from the pulleys and tensioner (1).
  15. Slowly release tension on the drive belt tensioner (1).

    CAUTION:

    Handle the charge air cooler inlet and outlet air tubes only by the outside surface, making sure to avoid touching the internal seals. Touching the internal seals can dislodge them from their intended location and lead to seal damage and leaks during tube installation.

    Release the charge air cooler outlet air hose retainer spring (1).

  17. Charge Air Cooler Outlet Air Hose (2) - Reposition
  18. Remove underbody panels as necessary. Underbody Panel Component Locator

    Electrical Connector (1) - Disconnect

  20. Battery Positive Cable Nut (2) - Remove
  21. Battery Negative Cable (3) - Remove

    Generator Bolt (1) - Remove [2x]

  23. Heater Inlet Hose Clip Bracket Nut (2) - Remove

    Generator (1) - Remove

    Disconnect the electrical connector.

  26. Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor (1) - Remove
