Repair Procedures: Removal

  1. Disconnect the battery negative cable from the battery and then wait for at least 30 seconds.
  2. Turn the steering wheel so that the front wheels are placed in the straight ahead position.
  3. Remove the airbag module.

    (Refer to Restraint - "DRIVER AIRBAG (DAB) MODULE AND CLOCK SPRING ")

  4. Remove the steering wheel by loosening the mounting bolt.

    Tightening Torques: 

    39.2 - 49.0 N.m (4.0 - 5.0 kgf.m, 28.9 - 36.2lb-ft)

    NOTE:
    • Do not use a hammer to remove the steering wheel, it may damage the steering column.
    • When installing, do not reuse the steering lock bolt.
    • When assembling, match the gear teeth as the image below.

  5. Remove the upper shroud (A) and then remove the lower shroud (B) by loosening the screw.

  6. Remove the clock spring (A) after removing connectors.

  7. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
  8. Conduct the "ASP Calibration".
