Initialization and Saving Learnt Value
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2017 Kia K900. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
CAUTION:
PTM cannot be initialized or configured by using diagnosis tool (GDS). It can only be initialized or configured by person.
Initialization and saving learnt value can reduce the error in parts comprising PTM. In other words, if the drive unit or trunk panel has been replaced, the trunk opening angle may be different depending on parts error. By performing initialization, the trunk opening/closing angle can be recognized by performing opening operation and configure the initial value.
PTM initialization can reduce the difference in trunk opening angle that may occur with replaced parts. The saved initial values are memorized permanently.
- To replace the PTM unit:
- Mount a new PTM unit on the vehicle and connect the connector.
- Close the trunk by using trunk inner switch or by person.
- When the trunk is open by using the outside handle switch, the initialization is completed with a buzzer sound.
- To replace parts that can affect PTM other than PTM unit:
- Press the trunk inner switch.
- Then, press the trunk outside handle switches at the same time.
- When pressed for more than 3 seconds, the buzzer sound will be issued once.
- Close the trunk by using the trunk inner switch or manually.
- When the trunk is open by using the outside handle switch, the initialization is completed with a buzzer sound.
NOTE:- The trunk must not be stopped while saving the parameters. Ensure that the parameters can be saved by power opening and closing by PTM control.
- The safety function is activated while the parameters are being saved.
- Once the parameters are saved, the above procedure does not need to be repeated as the saved parameters will not be erased even if the battery is discharged.
- After saving the parameters, performing the above procedure again saves new parameters to power trunk module.
