Code 51, Exhaust Gas RECIRCULATION (EGR) Circuit: Notes
The EGR Vacuum Switching Valve (VSV) solenoid is controlled by ECM. The VSV solenoid is supplied with battery voltage. ECM completes the ground circuit to energize the VSV solenoid.
NOTE:
Test numbers refer to test numbers on diagnostic chart.
- Checks circuit for a short to ground.
- Checks for voltage from fuel injection main relay.
- Checks circuit for a short to ground or for a faulty ECM.
- Checks VSV circuit (Green wire) for an open.
- High resistance in solenoid can set Code 51.
