Throttle Switch (Prizm)

The throttle switch sends a signal to ECM to indicate if throttle valve is in idle position or wide open throttle by the use of an idle switch and wide open throttle switch (internal components of throttle switch). Throttle switch is open except when throttle is closed or wide open.

These on/off signals are monitored by ECM and used to control fuel injection, idle speed control, shift indicator light (if equipped) and EGR vacuum switching valve (if equipped).
