Code 14, Ignition Signal Circuit, No Signal: Notes
Igniter receives 5 volts from ECM. Igniter processes voltage then returns voltage to ECM as a ignition fail-safe signal. ECM also receives a .7 volt ignition signal when starter is being cranked. If ignition fail-safe signal is not present 4 successive times during cranking, Code 14 will set. ECM uses these signals to pulse injectors.
NOTE:
Test numbers refer to test numbers on diagnostic chart.
- Checks for 5-volt signal from ECM.
- Verifies .10-2 volt signal from ECM.
- Checks for power to distributor.
- Checks for open in Black/Orange wire between junction block 1 and distributor or a faulty junction block 1.
- Checks for open in power feed to igniter, or a faulty ignition coil or igniter.
- Checks for open in Red/Black or Black/Orange wires to ignition switch and a faulty ignition switch.
