Rectifier Test

  1. Using an ohmmeter, measure resistance, between each diode lead and upper/lower rectifier bodies (STEP 1 in illustration). See Fig 1 . Check resistance in both directions by reversing ohmmeter leads. Resistance should be greater than 5 ohms in one direction and less than 5 ohms in the other direction. If resistance does not exist or exists in both directions, replace rectifier.
  2. Using an ohmmeter, measure resistance between diode trio leads (STEP 2 in illustration). See Fig 1 . Resistance should be greater than 5 ohms in one direction and less than 5 ohms in the other direction. Replace rectifier is resistance is not as specified.
