Shift Indicator Light (M/T)
- Turn ignition switch to ON position, and note shift indicator light. If shift indicator light illuminates, go to next step. If shift indicator light does not illuminate, go to step 4).
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect electrical connector from ECM. Connect a jumper between ECM connector terminal No. A19 (Purple/Red wire) and ground. Turn ignition switch to ON position, and note shift indicator light. If shift indicator light illuminates, go to next step. If shift indicator light does not illuminate, check for poor connection at ECM if connection is okay, replace ECM.
- Connect a jumper (backprobe) between instrument cluster connector terminal No. 3 (Light Blue wire) and ground. If shift indicator light illuminates, repair open in Light Blue wire or Purple/Red wire. If shift indicator light does not illuminate, check for open in Black/White wire between instrument cluster and 20-amp IG fuse located in junction block. Check for poor connection at instrument cluster connector. Check for open in instrument panel printed circuit. Also check for faulty indicator bulb. Repair or replace as necessary.
