Using DVOM

  1. Remove air cleaner. Loosen TP sensor retaining screws. Insert a .14" (3.5 mm) feeler gauge between throttle lever and stop screw. See Figure. Check if Idle Speed Control (ISC) motor plunger is contacting throttle lever screw. If ISC motor plunger is contacting throttle lever screw, bring engine to normal operating temperature.
  2. Turn ignition off. Using a DVOM, backprobe between Powertrain Control Module (PCM) 16-pin connector terminal No. 6 (Light Green/White wire) and ground. Turn ignition ON and engine OFF. Using DVOM, read TP sensor voltage. Rotate TP sensor until voltage is .98-1.02 volts. Tighten TP sensor retaining screws to 18 INCH lbs. (2 N.m). Install air cleaner.
