Cruise Control Systems: Operation: Notes
The CCM monitors vehicle speed and provides necessary commands to the actuator to maintain or change vehicle speed in response to inputs from cruise control switch. When CCM receives a cruise control command, a DC servomotor inside actuator turns a worm gear. Worm gear moves accelerator cable, which adjusts throttle position. A magnetic clutch mechanically connects DC servomotor to worm gear. Cruise control operation is disengaged when one or more cancel switches close. Upon receiving a cancel signal, CCM de-energizes magnetic clutch inside cruise control actuator.
