Steering Columns: Description
Steering column is collapsible type. Upper mounting bracket and base plates are attached to steering column with plastic shear pins. On impact to steering wheel pins shear. Column and mounting bracket slide downward. Base plate stays attached to body. Refer to Fig 1 for further detail.
